set-up time
1) The time taken to prepare a machine, process, or operation to carry out production. It may involve such operations as tool setting, calibration, and the initialization of the production process.
2) The time that elapses between the production of the last acceptable piece in one batch and the first acceptable piece in the next batch. This unproductive time is a cost that should be minimized. See set-up reduction
